Keith Minunga

Keith Minunga is a senior Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara man. Born in 1959, Keith lives between Umoona and Oodnadatta in far north South Australia. Keith began painting alongside his wife, Jeannie Minunga, and sister Kay Finn at Umoona Art Centre in October 2021. In this painting, Keith is telling the story of a meeting where the men are deciding to hunt emu and malu (kangaroo).
About the Artist

Keith Minunga is a senior Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara man who holds much cultural knowledge. Born in 1959, Keith lives between Umoona and Oodnadatta in the far north of South Australia.
Keith began painting alongside his wife, Jeannie Minunga, and sister Kay Finn at Umoona Art Centre in October 2021, shortly after the centre was established in 2020. This art centre is much celebrated as community members have been campaigning for an art centre for 15 years and have commenced their work with a passion and focus.
Keith depicts the emu and malu (kangaroo) story in his paintings and shares his knowledge of Country.
The year 2022 marks Keith�s first time as a finalist in the Telstra NATSIAA.
