The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) has temporarily closed its venues until further notice based on the precautionary health and safety advice of the Australian and Northern Territory Governments.
MAGNT is committed to ensuring the health and safety of its staff, artists, researchers and the community it serves. To protect staff and visitors from the spread of COVID-19, the following venues will close in Darwin and Alice Springs until further notice.
MAGNT Bullocky Point, Darwin
Fannie Bay Gaol, Darwin
Defence of Darwin Experience, Darwin
Museum of Central Australia, Alice Springs
Megafauna Central, Alice Springs
Lyons Cottage, which is operated by a third party, remains open at this stage.
I wish to thank the community for its unwavering support and understanding. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. This is a very trying time for everyone. Please take care of yourselves and continue to be compassionate to others around you.
The Telstra NATSIAA exhibition and judging is still proceeding with the selection of finalists facilitated by an online meeting of the panellists. However, the Opening Ceremony event and public programs have been cancelled.
the moment eternal: Nyapanyapa Yunupiŋu exhibition also continues to be developed. MAGNT is exploring alternatives to make its exhibitions and collection accessible to the public using its online channels.
We are very mindful of supporting the arts and cultural sector as best we can during this significantly challenging period. Thank you all for your continued support as we navigate this together.
