Message from the Director

Published 18 May 2020 (updated 1 July 2020)

I hope you and your loved ones remain safe and well during this challenging period. In March, we closed our venues to the public in accordance with the Australian and Northern Territory Governments' COVID-19 safety measures.

During the closure, MAGNT offered ways for you to connect with our world-class exhibitions and dynamic programs online. I hope you got to know a little about our team and it gave you a deeper insight into what we do.

As part of the Northern Territory Government's Roadmap to the New Normal Stage Two phase, we are pleased to welcome you back through the doors. MAGNT's venues will partially reopen on Monday 18 May – International Museum Day!
The health and safety of our visitors, staff, researchers and artists is top priority. Our venues will have physical distancing and hygiene measures in place.

Venues reopening on Monday, 18 May 2020:
MAGNT Darwin →
Museum of Central Australia →
Megafauna Central →
Lyons Cottage →

Defence of Darwin Experience reopens 25 July 2020 (open daily)

Fannie Bay Gaol reopens 4 July 2020 (open every Saturday 10am – 2pm)

Discovery Centres in Darwin and Alice Springs remain closed for now.

Thank you for sticking with us as we all continue to get through this together. I look forward to seeing you at MAGNT soon. In the meantime, please keep connecting with us online to explore more of what we do.
