Do I need a ticket for MAGNT?

 

There is no charge for entering MAGNT but donations are encouraged as we are an independent statutory authority.

 

If a fee is charged for an exhibition, it will be listed on its page on the website with a link to buying tickets online.

 

Entry fees are charged at the Museum of Central Australia and the Defence of Darwin Experience

 

 

How do I get to MAGNT?

Is there a café and shop?

 

There is an independently run onsite café and shop The Store at the Museum.

 

 

What facilities are provided for people with babies?

 

A parents room with baby changing and feeding facilities is provided.

 

 

Can I use a pram, stroller, walking frame or wheelchair at MAGNT?

 

Prams and strollers are permitted inside MAGNT. Walking frames and wheelchairs can also be brought and there are also a limited number of wheelchairs available for use without charge. These must be booked in advance

 

 

Can I take photographs or video or film?

 

You are welcome to take photographs, but without a flash.

 

You need to make a written request if you intend to photograph or film for publication or commercial purposes. For more information contact our Engagement team.

 

 

What about mobile phones?

 

We encourage visitors to engage using mobile devices, but please switch your phone to silent and do not talk on your phone in exhibitions or during events.

 

 

Can I sketch or paint inside the Gallery?

 

Sketching inside MAGNT is permitted. See our sketching guidelines.

 

 

Is cloaking provided?

 

Bag and cloaking facilities are provided at MAGNT

 

We require visitors to cloak all large bags, backpacks, other large items, wet raincoats and umbrellas for the safety of exhibits and visitors. A $2 coin is required to use the lockers which is refunded at the end of your visit.

 

 

Can I eat and drink?

 

Eating and drinking is only allowed in the cafe. All water bottles must be left at the front desk.

 

Drinking fountains are located in the foyer and at the top of the ramp.

 

The lawns at the front of MAGNT are perfect for picnics and have plenty of trees.

 

 

Is there seating?

 

Seating is provided in the foyer and Seaview Lounge, as well as throughout exhibition spaces.

 

 

Is smoking permitted?

 

Smoking is not permitted anywhere at MAGNT.

 

 

Are there any age restrictions?


Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
