The body moving in space ... a theme that has played a prominent role in the history of video art since the sixties. The select group of artists displayed in Light moves: contemporary Australian video art continue to explore the possibilities of the medium in poetic works that speak to their own personal interests and histories.

Light moves: Australian contemporary video art highlights video holdings from the National Gallery of Australia’s collection from the past 40 years. It included the work of some of Australia’s major contemporary video artists including Daniel Crooks, Julie Rrap, Shaun Gladwell and David Rosetzky. The exhibition was accompanied by an exciting film program of video art from the NGA collection that screened in the MAGNT Theatrette.
