Support exploration and research by our Natural Sciences team into Territory species

MAGNT’s Natural Science collections are a permanent and accessible record of the fauna, rocks, minerals and fossils found across northern Australia, with a focus on the Northern Territory and the land and seas to the north.

Curatorial expertise at MAGNT spans earth sciences and aquatic taxonomy and systematics, and our collection consists of over 700,000 specimens housed in Darwin and Alice Springs. We are the stewards of significant collections of late Miocene vertebrate fossils from the internationally significant Alcoota Fossil Beds in Central Australia.

The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is a non-profit organisation

MAGNT brings you vibrant exhibits that tell meaningful local stories at all six sites across the Northern Territory. We work hard to ensure your visit is special by curating from our unique collections spanning art, Aboriginal heritage, natural science and Territory history.

Donations of any size are gratefully received. Donations to MAGNT are fully tax-deductible. Finalise your donation with MAGNT by midnight, June 30 to claim a tax deduction for this financial year.
