MEGAFAUNA CENTRAL OPENING
3pm - 5pm, Thursday 5 July
The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory is set to launch its highly anticipated and newest venue, Megafauna Central, on Thursday 5 July from 3pm–5pm with a free opening and family event.
The exciting story of megafauna in Central Australia is presented through displays of the fascinating fossils found at the Alcoota Scientific Reserve, alongside exquisite illustrations, life-size replicas of megafauna, Arrernte audio interpretations, and a range of immersive activities that invite children to unearth fossils, solve a giant 3,000-piece puzzle, and interact with palaeontologists in the lab.
On Thursday 5 July, join Barking Spider Visual Theatre for a unique and captivating shadow puppetry installation that will bring to life the stories of the ancient megafauna that once roamed throughout Central Australia over 6 million years ago. Combining sound and the artistry of shadow audiences will be enchanted by this spectacular installation, Megafauna: In the shadow of great beasts.
Families are encouraged to join the artists and participate in a drop-in shadow puppetry workshop.
Food and beverages will be available from The Bakery.
