Visiting MAGNT with Babies and Young Children
Our principal facility, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is home to internationally renowned cultural and scientific collections, and exciting research, exhibitions and public programs.
This information is intended to make your visit with babies and young children more comfortable and enjoyable.
If you have any questions about our sites or would like to bring any specific needs to our attention, please contact the Information Desk on +61 8999 8206 between 10.00am and 4.00pm or via info@magnt.net.au.
Feeding Babes in Arms
Breastfeeding and bottle-feeding babies is allowed anywhere throughout the museum. There are several bench seats available in galleries that can be used for
this purpose.
The Seaview Gallery includes a discreet lounge area that is perfect for feeding babes in arms. Please refer to the map for details. Collect our dedicated Guide for Visitors with Babies on arrival which includes a map to guide you.
Baby Bags and Care Needs
Baby bags are welcome, we just ask they are securely and unobtrusively attached to a pram or carried by the carer’s side. You can also keep bags containing care needs for yourself of anyone in your care, including bags containing medical items or first aid supplies providing the bags is not larger than 40cm.
Baby Change Facilities
The dedicated Baby Change room on the landing near Sweetheart features a baby change table and there is another one in the Accessible Toilet in the foyer.
Food and Drinks for Others
Food and drink for older children and adults cannot be consumed in the gallery spaces. This helps us protect the works on display and in our collections from damage from insects that are attracted to spills and crumbs on the floor.
